Health Care Provider Scholarships were awarded on Thursday, July 11, to four deserving students. The scholarship of $1,000 is given by the Medical Staff of Franciscan St. Anthony Health – Crown Point.

The applicants must come from within the Franciscan St. Anthony primary service area (Southern Lake, Porter, Northern Jasper and Northern Newton counties), and they must be enrolling in a health care-related field. To apply, they provide their GPA, SAT scores, extracurricular activities and work history, and answer a series of questions about why they have chosen their career path, the events in their life that have shaped their decision, and why they deserve the scholarship.

A group of physicians reviewed the applications and chose the winners.
This year’s recipients are:

  • Kelli Wagner of Crown Point, who will be attending Purdue North Central this fall majoring in Nursing
  • Shelby Schoon of Wheatfield, who will be attending Purdue University in Lafayette this fall with plans to pursue a career in anesthesia

  • Kristin Brumm of St. John, who is attending IUPUI in Indianapolis with plans to become a physical therapist
