Timothy Mullally, DO, of the Franciscan St. Anthony Health – Sports Medicine Institute, presented a program titled, “Concussion in Sports” as part of a Franciscan Alliance-sponsored, Family Health Fair at St. John Evangelist parish in St. John Sept. 21.
Mullally discussed the diagnosis and treatment of concussions in student athletes and answered audience questions. The fair, which attracted approximately 100 persons, also offered health screenings, among them for blood pressure, provided by Franciscan Physician Network St. John Health Center; and skin cancer, offered courtesy of Tarun Kukreja, MD, of Franciscan Hammond Clinic Specialty Center in Munster.
The fair likewise offered a wealth of other health information. Flu shots were provided by Vyto’s Pharmacy, which has Hammond and Highland locations, and massages by Trimboli Chiropractic, which has offices in Munster and Cedar Lake. Nurse practitioner Kitty Stengel hosted an “Ask the Nurse Practitioner’’ session. Refreshments, giveaways and prizes were available as were balloons and clowns for children.
